Born, Shant Gabriel Yeghizar Avadis Meeroian, in Armenia 1965. Moved to camp gallani, Iraq, mainly Armenians, since the the country was mostly Muslim, we were placed in a section of the city that were all orthodox Armenian. My family immigrated from Armenia, during the genocide (by the Turks against Armenians and the Greek) of 1915. My family began its journey to the west (America) in 1975 after my mothers passing. Greece 1976 was the most wonderful of memories I hold, only 11 at the time, and seeing Greece was an inspiration for many thing to come in my life. from the history to the people and the land just magnificent. In April 20th 1977 we arrived in New York. The journey has come to its end my father had completed his promise to take his 2 sons out of the middle east and bring them to a new life in the USA. America has been my home and will be for a long time to come. Music was always a part of me from when I was 5 or 6 that's when we acquired a radio. There was music from Iran, Turkey, Armenian and Arabic as well. Then there was "Voice of America" oh my goodness I loved music. Demis Rossos was famous all around our region. Finding his music in America, was hard but with a little effort I found many of his releases and got a hold of MAGIC LP sounded different, excitingly different. Loved watching PBS. Death of a Princes was intriguing Cosmos followed Chariots of Fire came out all the pieces of the puzzle came together Vangelis was discovered. I knew what I wanted to do, play music. My problem I can't read or write music but I liked to play all kind of instrument. Continues bellow. Thank you. Meero.
